As part of our commitment to national defense innovation, MILDEF designed and manufactured Malaysia’s first indigenous High Mobility Armored Vehicle (HMAV) — an initiative inspired by the strategic imperatives of the 2013 Lahad Datu standoff. Through localized engineering and advanced fabrication, MILDEF empowers national sovereignty while reducing dependency on foreign defense technologies.

Our History
Mildef’s expansion into the armored vehicle sector began in 2016 with the unveiling of an upgraded Scorpion light tank prototype tailored for the armed forces. In 2018, the company achieved a major milestone at Defence Services Asia (DSA) by debuting its first locally manufactured Special Operations Vehicle (SOV).
To accelerate sovereign defense technology, Mildef partnered with the Science & Technology Research Institute for Defence (STRIDE), a statutory board under the Ministry of Defence Malaysia. This strategic collaboration spearheaded the design, integration, and manufacturing of state-of-the-art tactical vehicles—most notably the flagship Mildef Tarantula HMAV, engineered for both domestic deployment and international export.
Building on the success of the Tarantula, Mildef expanded its armored fleet with key innovations including the Rentaka 4×4, officially launched by His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Demonstrating continuous advancement, Mildef showcased its upgraded ACV-300 Adnan prototype alongside the Tarantula HMAV in 2021, reinforcing its commitment to elevating national defense capabilities.
